Setting up the target is called Naamdaan- Swami Shri Purushottamacharya Ji Maharaj

Setting up the target is called Naam-daan. The individual who is receiving the Naamdaan, should have absolute faith that after being initiated by the Divine Guru all their troubles are going to vanish undoubtedly, they should firmly determine that they would only move on the path of righteousness, which is called the Supreme Power. Shrimad Jagadguru Ramanujacharya Swami Shri Purushottamacharya Ji Maharaj narrated this sacred procedure through the process called Naamdaan, which leads the devotee towards the path of wellbeing making the teachings of the Guru prove to be absolutely beneficial.

In the Ramanuja tradition it is clearly stated that when an individual receives the Naamdaan, all their misdeeds of the past get destroyed on their own, but yet it is observed that some individuals always continue making complaints, such as that they are not bestowed with the benevolence, what kind of destiny they have, what bad have they done to others to deserve this etc. etc. Such people should take note that Naam-daan is a sacred commitment made in the presence of the Divine Guru, in which the devotee Surrenders themselves completely to the Guru asking for forgiveness for all their past misdeeds, promising to move onward solely on the path chosen by the Guru, spending their remaining life as the loving child of the Guru. The devotee vows to recite the \\\\\\\"Name\\\\\\\" of the God and perform all their duties as per the instructions given by Shri Guru Maharaj.

However, just the opposite occurs. The individuals after being initiated forget to recite the Sacred Naam and again indulge in doing the same old misdeeds, which they were carrying out earlier. When we don\\\\\\\'t accept the message of the Guru, don\\\\\\\'t follow the path stated by God, then how can we become worthy to receive His loving mercy? Those who receive Naam, should always speak the truth, should avoid non-vegetarian food, alcohol, should not become envious or condemn others, should never ever condemn the Guru, always follow the rules of wearing the Janeu, have the mark of the Tilak to the extent possible, should chant the name of the God keeping firm faith in the divine abode of the Guru, take care of his/her purification, should avoid inflicting harm to others and should become determined to aspire in having absolute faith in the Lord Almighty. The individuals who perform these acts, without any doubt get liberated and in the end achieve salvation.

Shri Guru Maharaj gave this spiritual discourse to all the devotees who participated in the Naamdaan program held in the Divyadham. On this auspicious day approximately 450 devotees took the shelter of the supreme power through the sacred process of Naamdaan.
