Goambamba Utsav celebrated at Shri Siddhadata Ashram

In the tradition of South Indian Sanatan Dharma, the festival of the great Saint Goamamba ji was celebrated today at Shri Laxminarayan Divyadhaam (Shri Siddhadata Ashram) with rituals. On this occasion, his marriage ceremony was also organized after anointing Goambamba ji.

On this occasion, the presiding officer of the ashram, Anantashree Vibhushit Indraprastha and Haryana Peethadheeshwar Shrimad Jagadguru Ramanujacharya Swami Shri Purushottamacharya Ji Maharaj, performed the rituals of Abhishek etc. He told that Godamba is known as Andal Devi by the religious people in South India. Who was born in the house of the saint Vishnuchitta Swami, who came in the Ramanuja tradition. Godamba's mind was devoted to the worship of Lord Tirupati i.e. Srimannarayan since childhood. She used to make necklaces of flowers to wear to the deity to help her father Vishnuchitta Swami.

Swami Purushottamacharya Ji Maharaj told that Goandamba's attachment to God increased so much that he decided to marry God. Which was accepted by his father Vishnuchitta Swami on the instructions of the Lord. After marriage, Gandamba went ahead with the company of God and got absorbed in him. It is because of her melodious songs that Goandamba was included among the Alvar saints in the Ramanuja sect. It is worth mentioning that in the Ramanuja sect, the Alvars have a big place in the tradition of saints.

Shri Guru Maharaj said that this is an example that a devotee can attain God by drowning in any part of Navadha Bhakti. This is the reason that even after being the simplest means, devotion is the highest way to attain God. On this occasion, Swamiji provided prasad to the devotees and saints and blankets etc. to protect them from winter.
